Stephen Colbert Is My Hero

If you haven't already seen his appearance at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner, here's a link to a site hosting the video. Talk about guts! To say the things he says with President Bush sitting a few feet away...unbelievable.

There's a full story on Colbert's appearance at Editor and Publisher. An excerpt:

As Colbert walked from the podium, when it was over, the president and First Lady gave him quick nods, unsmiling. The president shook his hand and tapped his elbow, and left immediately.

Those seated near Bush told E&P's Joe Strupp, who was elsewhere in the room, that Bush had quickly turned from an amused guest to an obviously offended target as Colbert’s comments brought up his low approval ratings and problems in Iraq.

Whoever booked Colbert must've known what they were getting, so I'm not sure why some folks are so bent out of shape over his routine. He does this kind of stuff all the time on his Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report.
